ShangrilaCollections.com is an online extension of our retail store in Madison, Wisconsin.  Shangri-La Collections, located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin was established in February, 2004 by two brothers from Nepal.  Madison is a historical city with a lively downtown area bustling with vibrant spirit of its diverse population.  Given the warmth and openness of the local community and the influx of visitors from around the world, Madison was a perfect backdrop for a venture like Shangri-La Collections, which primarily deals with bringing the unique cultures and traditions of the Himalayan region in the form of arts, handicrafts, and much more.      

Although, Shangri-La Collections is a for-profit business, we are primarily driven by our passion to preserve Nepalese and Tibetan culture and tradition.  To that end, our retail and web outlets serve as channels for the creative output of artisans and businesses based in Nepal, which in turn supports the local economy.  Another source of our motivation is our support and respect for the spiritual heritage of the Himalayan region.  This is reflected in our effort to bring a variety of reasonably-priced dharma items to those interested in the spiritual path.
